What the extension handles

Tab Workbench processes tab titles, full URLs, tab order, pinned status, group names and colors, workspace names, next-step notes and operation progress. You choose a normal browser window and the pages to save. Private windows, browser-internal pages and URLs containing username/password credentials are excluded.

To offer window choices and identify links that are already open, the extension reads eligible open tabs in normal windows. It does not read webpage contents, passwords, cookies, account details or your browser history.

Local storage and retention

Workspaces and operation records are stored in IndexedDB in your Chrome profile. Language preferences are stored in chrome.storage.local. There is no account system, developer backend, advertising or analytics SDK. The developer does not receive, sell or use your saved browsing information for any unrelated purpose.

Workspaces remain on this device until you clear extension data or uninstall the extension. Archiving only moves a workspace to the Archived list; it does not erase it. Chrome may remove local extension data when you uninstall it. Device loss and profile corruption can also cause loss. Export a backup before uninstalling.

Permissions

• tabs: list normal windows’ pages, read titles and URLs, compare open URLs, and open the links you explicitly select.
• tabGroups: read group names, colors and collapsed state and recreate groups for restored links.
• storage: save your language preference locally.
• bookmarks (optional): requested only when you choose to save links as Chrome bookmarks. The extension reads folder paths and creates a new folder with the selected bookmarks. It never updates, moves or deletes existing bookmarks.

Limited use

Tab Workbench uses information received from Chrome APIs only to provide its disclosed workspace features, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. It does not transfer this information to the developer or third parties, use it for advertising, or make it available for human review.

Network and external services

The extension has no host permissions or content scripts and makes no business-data requests to external servers. Opening a saved link causes Chrome to visit that website normally, under that website’s policy. Clicking Help or the companion extension link opens those external pages. Chrome’s own bookmark synchronization may sync bookmarks that you explicitly create if you have enabled Chrome Sync; this is separate from the extension.

This public help website is hosted by OpenAI Sites. Its hosting provider may process ordinary website-request information such as IP addresses and browser information under its own privacy terms. This website does not receive saved workspaces or bookmarks from the extension and embeds no analytics or remote fonts.

Backups and support messages

Exported JSON files contain saved titles, full URLs and notes. Keep these files private. Import validates the format and adds new copies without replacing existing workspaces or opening pages. Support messages you choose to post are handled by the support platform and may be public; do not include private URLs or entire backup files.

How to use Tab Workbench

1. Click the extension’s toolbar icon, then Save a window. Choose the window and pages, enter a name and optionally a next-step note, then save. The original tabs stay open.
2. Choose a workspace and Continue working. Review the links, optionally skip exact URLs already open, and open your selection in a new window.
3. To keep selected links long-term, choose Save as bookmarks, allow optional bookmark access, choose a destination and confirm. A new folder is created. Existing bookmarks stay in place.
4. Use Settings & backup to export a JSON backup or import copies from an existing backup.

Restoring reopens links and tab groups. It does not restore form inputs, scrolling, website application state or login sessions. Saving does not close tabs. Workspaces do not sync across devices.

If an operation stops

Check Activity for recorded progress, then inspect the newly opened window or bookmark folder before retrying. Interrupted actions are not automatically resumed or repeated. The saved workspace remains available. An action may succeed in Chrome just before progress recording stops, so a partial record may not include every opened page.

Language

English is the default interface language. Choose another language from the menu; your explicit selection is saved on this device. The extension does not automatically switch to the browser or system language.

Capacity

Up to 200 workspaces, 500 pages per workspace and 10,000 pages in total, subject to an approximately 7.9 MB data limit and available browser storage. Backup import files may be up to 8 MB. These are limits, not a performance guarantee.

Contact and feedback

Use the Support section of Tab Workbench’s Chrome Web Store listing to contact the publisher. The listing becomes available when the extension is published. Include the extension version, your Chrome version, interface language, steps to reproduce and any error code. Redact personal information from screenshots. Do not submit full backups or private browsing links.

Tab Workbench 在当前 Chrome 资料中保存网页标题、完整网址、顺序、固定状态、分组、工作区名称、下一步备注和操作进度。选择窗口和检查已打开链接时会读取普通窗口中的标签页信息。不会读取网页正文、密码、Cookie、账号信息或浏览历史；跳过隐身窗口、内部页面和含用户名密码的网址。

工作区和操作记录保存在本地 IndexedDB，语言偏好保存在 chrome.storage.local。无需账户，没有开发者后端、统计 SDK、广告或云同步。开发者不会接收或出售工作区资料。归档只改变列表位置，不清除数据。卸载扩展、清除扩展数据或丢失浏览器资料可能使本地数据消失，请提前导出备份。

必需权限为 tabs（标题、网址、恢复网页）、tabGroups（保存与恢复分组）、storage（本地语言偏好）。bookmarks 为可选权限，仅在你选择保存为书签时申请；只创建新目录和书签，不修改、移动或删除既有书签。Chrome 自身同步可能同步新建书签。

扩展没有网站访问权限或内容脚本，不向外部服务发送业务数据。你选择打开链接时，Chrome 会正常访问该网站；点击帮助或配套插件链接时会打开相应外部页面。本帮助网站由 OpenAI Sites 托管，服务商可能处理 IP、浏览器信息等普通请求数据；网站不会从扩展接收工作区或书签。

Tab Workbench 按照 Chrome 应用商店用户数据政策（包括有限使用要求），仅为已披露的工作区功能使用 Chrome API 数据，不向开发者或第三方传输、不用于广告，也不提供给人工查阅。

首次打开默认英语，不自动跟随浏览器或系统语言。可在菜单切换其他语言，之后会保留手动选择。

开始使用

1. 点击工具栏图标 → 保存一个窗口 → 选择网页 → 填写名称与下一步 → 保存。原来的标签页保持打开。
2. 进入工作区 → 继续工作 → 预览 → 选择是否跳过已打开的相同网址 → 在新窗口打开。
3. 需要长期保留时，选择保存为书签，授予可选权限，选择目标目录并确认。
4. 在设置与备份中导出或导入 JSON。导入新增副本，不覆盖、不自动打开网页。

恢复仅重新打开链接与分组，不恢复表单、滚动位置或登录状态。操作中断后不会自动重试；请查看操作记录，并检查新窗口或新书签目录，避免重复操作。

上限为 200 个工作区、每区 500 个网页、共 10,000 个网页，并受约 7.9 MB 数据大小及浏览器可用空间限制；导入文件最多 8 MB。容量限制不是性能保证。
